Meen varuval /King Fish Fry

King Fish Fry - meen varuval - porissa meen

Simple and easy king fish fry recipe.


King fish - 4 big slices - cut as steak. 
for marination:
Kashmiri chili powder - 1 tbspn
salt - to taste
tamarind pulp - 3 tbsn
Ginger garlic paste - 1tspn
gram masala powder - 1/4 tspn
 salt - to taste

Oil - for Frying  (coconut oil or any oil)


1. Clean the fish two or three times and add  white vinegar (or) turmeric powder.
 Soak for 5 minutes and wash again and drain the water.  keep the fish slices,  aside.
2. Mix all  the  masala to a thick paste and and dip both side of fish pieces into the masla paste and marinate for 2 hours.
. 3.  Heat the pan.  Add oil and heat over medium heat.  Fry the fish on  both sides to  golden brown.
Serve it with Plain rice and  dhal or chappathi and kuboos.
