Corn Peas Money Bag/Wontons/Potli







Kids  hate vegetable, so we can hide and give through this type of snacks.

 
Corn Peas Money Bag/wontons/Potli 


Ingredients

For Dough

Maida – 200 gram
Salt – ¼ tspn
Sugar – ½ tspn
Hot water – ¼ glass
Oil or butter  – 1 tspn

For filling

Sweet Corn (Frozen) – 100 gram
Green Peas – 50 gram
Cabbage ( grated) – ¼ cup
Carrot grated – 1 tspn
Chopped Capsicum – 2 tspn
Chopped green chilli – 1no
Chopped Onion – 1 tbspn
Chopped garlic – 2 pod
Salt – to taste
Oil – 2 tspn
Coarsely grounded black pepper – ½ tspn
Lemon juice – ½ tspn
Sugar – 2 pinches

Oil – for frying
Method

1.    In another wide bowl, mix the Atta,sugar, oil and salt.
2.    Prepare a soft dough with those ingredients.
3.    Make small lemon size balls and roll it in atta, as needed.

4.    Make a the balls in to a flat rotis (like puris) .


5.    In a non stick pan add oil and add onion and garlic and sauté for 2 min.
6.  Add Corn and peas saute for 1 min,   Add cabbage, carrot and capsicum , sauté for 1 min.
7.    Add salt and sprinkle little water and cook about 2 min

8.    Finally add sugar, pepper pwd and lemon juice salt mix well and remove from the heat and allow it to cool.

12. Close it gently like modak shape like a money bag and keep aside.

13. Heat oil in a pan keep the fire in Medium flame deep fry the all money bags.


Note: This is very interesting recipe, kids will love the shape,In olden days Grannies use  the moneybags to  keep the money. money bags symbolise wealthy, whereas this corn peas moneybag symbolise healthy.
we  can also  use mutton or  chicken filling instead of veggie.
if there is any  fear in closing the bag  you  can  use  spring onion   to tie up this bag.

Kerala Special cabbage Thoran (varavu /poriyal/Stir fry)





Most Keralites are celebrating ONAM Festival.  They prepare Onam sadhya which is a Kerala Special Thali and has as many as 29 items in one Thali. Out of these items Cabbage Thoran is one such dish.  I wish to give a treat to my viewers by providing this simple and quick to make recipe - Cabbage varavu/thoran/poriyal. You may prepare this simple yet tasty side dish and enjoy it with rice or roti.


Kerala Special cabbage Thoran (varavu /poriyal/Stir fry)
Dum  Cabbage

Serves :4
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time : 10 minitues

 Ingredients
  1. Cabbage – 400 gram
  2. Ginger – grated 1 tspn
  3. Coconut  - grated – ¼ cup
  4. Chopped Green chilies – 2 nos 
  5. Salt – to taste
  6. Chopped Small onion –  8 Nos
  7. Turmeric pwd – 1/2 tspn
  8. Water – 4 tbspn

for tempering

  1. Kl nirmal coconut oil or sunflower oil  - - 2 tbspn
  2. Mustard seed – ½ tspn
  3. Curry leaves – few
  4. Cumin seeds – ½ tspn




Method
Mix all the ingredients In a bowl ( chopped cabbage, coconut,green chilles, ginger,salt, small onion, turmeric pwd) keep aside.
In a pan add oil , mustard seed, cumin seed, and curry leaves whey start crackle  add cabbage mix stir well and sprinkle the water close the lid keep the flame medium low and cook it for 7 minutes. Open the lid , stir it and transfer the cabbage into a serving bowl.
Serve with plain rice or chappathi.

Chinese Spring Roll




Chinese Spring Roll  : Serves - 2 or 3
Spring rolls are a large variety of filled, rolled appetizers, it’s Chinese and Vietnams
popular starter recipe. I always prepared homemade spring roll for packing my son’s lunch box.

For the filling ( same filling last recipe I posted for Money bag)
Chopped garlic – 3 nos
Sugar– ¼ tspn
Chopped green Chilli – 1 no
Grated Cabbage – 250 gram
Grated Carrot – 100 gram
Spring Onion – 3 Strips
White Pepper – ½ tspn
Salt– ½ tspn
Soy sauce – 1 tbspn
Vinegar– 1 tbspn
Oil– 2 tspn
For the dough
Atta (Wheat Flour) – 150 gram
Oil– 1 tbspn
Sugar– ½ tspn
Salt– ¼
Oil – for frying





In a non stick pan add oil; temper the garlic, sugar, green chilli
Add spring onion, cabbage carrot one by one stir well and cook for 5 minutes.
Add soy sauce, Vinegar, white pepper, salt mix well and remove from the heat and cool.
In another wide bowl, mix the Atta , sugar, oil and salt.
Prepare a soft dough with those ingredients.




Make small lemon size balls and roll it in atta , as needed.

Make a the balls in to a flat Small rotis ( like puris) .
Place the flattened dough Keep 1 heaped teaspoon
Spread the prepared filling. Close two sides and roll it like spring roll.
It’s not closed properly seal it with maida paste.




Heat oil in pan keep the fire in Medium flame deep fry the all Spring Rolls.
Serve it hot with ketchup or any chutney..


It is a great Starter/ breakfast/dinner/and lunch box food for Kids and adults too.

Chinese Cabbage Money bag/Wontons/Potli









Chinese Money bag/wontons/Potli /Cabbage Money Bag.
It is basically an Italian starter.


Serves – 2


Cabbage is good for health Nowadays many kids won't like to eat It contains rich iron, so I tried this cabbage money bag snack. It look nice & kids would love to eat.
Please try this recipe it's very interesting to make





For the filling

Chopped garlic – 3 nos

Sugar– ¼ tspn

Chopped green Chilli – 1 no

Fennel Seed Cabbage Poriyal


Fennel Seed Cabbage poriyal

Serves : 1
Preparation Time: 5 Minutes
Cooking Time : 5 Minutes

Ingredients
 Cabbage 100 gram
Salt – ¼ tspn (to taste)
Grated coconut – 2 tspn
Turmeric pwd – ¼ tspn
Water – 2 tspn
For  Tempering
Oil – 1 tspn
Fennel seed + mustard seeds – ½ tspn
Chopped Small Pearl Onion – 2 nos
Fennel seed – ½ pinch
Whole red chilli – 1 no
Curry leaves – few


Method

Cut the cabbage lengthwise. Heat a cooker add oil and temper above said ingredients, Add cabbage stir well.
Add turmeric, salt grated coconut, sprinkle the water stir well and close the cooker lid. leave 2 whistle.
Very simple and easy cabbage poriyal very well goes with plain rice ,chappathi.It can be prepared in different variations and the taste differs as per the different methods.
