Omani Halwa

This was specially made for Eid , I was very busy in my shop work (Chennai Plaza) So I couldn't comment in any blog.

Omani Halwa:

Omani’s Traditional halwa.



Since 1920, the Omanians prepare this authentic sweet during wedding feasts and Eid celebrations. Halwa is a fundamental part of daily life in Oman, often served at special occasions like weddings, funerals, or other social gatherings. It is the standard food when greeting guests, regardless of class or social distinction, along with Arabic coffee, which is known as qahwa.  


Preparation Time : 7 minutes
cooking Time : 25 minutes
serves : 9 persons
Ingredients

I

Corn Flour - 100 gram
Water – 200 ml
Red food coloring few drops

II

Sugar Syrup
Water – 300 ml
Sugar – 175 gram
Saffron – 1 tbsn
Cardamom powder – ½ tspn

III

Rose water – 3 tbspn
Cardamom powder – 1 tspn



IV

Nuts

 Chopped badam 25 gram
 Cashew nuts – 50 gram
  Pista flakes – 25 gram








Method

Make sugar syrup  first
In a wide non stick pan heat the ghee and fry the cashew nuts and chopped badam  keep aside.
In the same pan,  Boil the water along with sugar and cardamom powder. Boil for 5 minutes.






In a bowl of 200 ml water, add red colour and flour mix well and add it to sugar syrup stir continuously with out any lumps.

then add butter ,saffron , cardamom powder and stir continuously
























Finally add roasted cashew and badam stir well
Garnish with pista flakes
Grease the tray with ghee and transfer the halwa into it and let it cool. Cut into desired shapes
